Today’s lecture is for anyone who wants to become popular, to become famous.
Few years ago, nobody knew me, but today, apart from artists like Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid, I have a name for myself in Nigeria.
That is a fact. Fame means you have the attention of the people on you, and that attention is not by accident.
I did these five things, and they really helped me.
5 Ways to Become a Celebrity
1. Be Different and Unique
The first thing you must do is be different and unique. There is no way people will pay attention to you if you look and act like everyone else.
The secret is to be a person they can easily spot from the rest of the crowd.
That is why you will see a lady who is trending just because of her beauty. It is her look that gave her fame.
Even that boy, Tenge Tenge, it was his face and his look that gave him that fame. You could easily separate him from everyone else.
I live a very boring life and I sacrifice my personal lifestyle so that my outside life can be very entertaining.
I am someone people pay to see, and for that to happen, I must be preserved. I can’t do everything everybody is doing or go everywhere everybody goes.
The moment I do that, nothing will be special about me again.
2. Embrace Your Unfair Advantage
You must embrace your unfair advantages. When all the other musicians were singing about their grass-to-grace stories, Davido sang “Dami Duro,” and he told us straight up that he is the son of a rich man from a wealthy family.
He embraced his unfair advantage. He was telling the world, “I don’t need your help. I am here to use my father’s influence and money to support the talent I already have.”
If you are a tall person, capitalize on your advantage. Don’t go and struggle to do what short people do.
If you are short, embrace it. People will easily notice you. Remember Aki and Pawpaw? Their look and their height made them funny.
Now that they are fat, they are not as funny anymore. They used what made them different.
If you are a beautiful girl, go where they appreciate beauty and capitalize on it. If you are not, find where they appreciate people like you.
Everything in this world has an advantage. You just have to know where you belong and capitalize on it.
3. Market Your Skills
After you have isolated yourself, learned, built yourself, and you know your advantages, it is now time to market these things to the world.
You must stop hiding yourself and embrace your greatness. Show the world who you are and what you are made of.
You have to brag about yourself. Don’t assume that people know you, because they don’t.
You have to push yourself and put your face in the face of people. When you go to a public place, go and sit in the front. Don’t go and hide at the back.
The front is for great people, and you are a great person.
4. Associate with Known People
You must associate yourself with people who are already known. My collaboration with OGB helped me a lot, especially during our Gwagon saga.
That thing really helped catapult me to the next level.
People will only start to pay attention to you or your brand if you are associating with people they like, appreciate, or admire.
So find a known brand or a known personality that is already popular and famous, and connect with them.
5. Imitate People Who Are Already Popular
You have to imitate some of the things popular people do.
Put their ideas into action, implement them, add your own spice to it, and use it to push yourself to the next level.
For you to start from the beginning without a guide, it can be very difficult.
That is why you should learn from those who have already made it.
That’s all for today’s lecture, students. Fame is not a game of chance; it is a game of strategy.
